Service Policy

Effective 4 March 2008

Our Guarantee to You
We at Campus Book Rentals are very appreciative of your business and understand the financial strain of college life. After all, we've been there.

We guarantee to follow the terms of our rental agreement and provide you with a textbook that matches your order. The books you receive may be hardback or paperback at the discretion of Campus Book Rentals and depending on availability from our suppliers at the time of rental. Books may also be an instructor's version if it is determined by CampusBookRentals.com and our suppliers that the instructor's version is identical to the student version (besides instructor comments). Books will be in new or acceptable used condition depending on availability at the time of rental. Our policy is to rent only US Edition textbooks. Unlike many online booksellers, we guarantee our books to be US Editions. Supplemental materials, such as student access codes, CD ROMs, or supplemental workbooks are not guaranteed to come with your books. Although we strive to find books which include all their supplements, many such materials are one-time use and are not available through our suppliers. Be sure before you order that you either have access to these supplements or that you don’t truly need them for your class.

Quoted Rental Prices
Rental prices are subject to change at any given time; however, once you have added a book to your shopping cart, the price will remain the same throughout the checkout process. If you leave our website, the rental price may change by the time you return.

Errors in Quoted Prices Campus Book Rentals reserves the right to cancel any order that results from an error in pricing such as erroneous information from our suppliers or a typographical error. If Campus Book Rentals discovers an error in pricing, we will contact the renter immediately upon discovery and attempt to resolve the situation.

Returning Books at the End of Your Rental Period
Campus Book Rentals strives to make returning your books as easy as getting them. All customers prior to 4 March 2008 fall under our previous return system, whereby we send for the books at the end of you rental period using a prepaid shipping envelope(s). All customers beginning 4 March 2008 fall under our new return system, whereby the prepaid shipping label is accessed and printed right from your account. If you have trouble accessing your prepaid label, contact us and we will email it to you. Then simply package up your books in a single package and drop them off at the nearest U.S. Post Office or USPS package drop.

Rental Period
We have structured our rental periods to fit the needs of a college student. The last thing we want is you worrying about not getting your book back to us on time. We have incorporated, at no extra charge, a grace period which allows you to rent your book early or hold on to it late in the case of a later than normal final exam. Each rental period and our grace period are discussed in detail below.

Grace Period
Both of our rental periods comes with a 15 (fifteen) day grace period. We've been in your shoes. Sometimes you would like to get your books early, or you need to take a make-up final exam. Our 15 day grace period allows you the flexibility to hold on to the book long enough to get you through to the bitter end. Don't hesitate to use it. That's why it's there! The grace period applies to both of the rental periods below (for example, the 125 day rental period allows a student to keep the book for 140 days if necessary at absolutely no extra cost).

Semester (130 days)
This rental period was designed for students attending full semesters. The rental period begins on the day your books are delivered and ends 130 (one hundred thirty) days thereafter. All textbooks rented under this rental period must be postmarked by the 130th day from the day your books were delivered, unless you are taking advantage of the 15 day grace period. See how easy the return process is in the "Return Your Books" section below.

Quarter (85 days)
This rental period is used mainly by students on quarters or in a Master’s program. The rental period begins on the day your books are delivered and ends 85 (eighty-five) days thereafter. All textbooks rented under this rental period must be postmarked by the 85th day from the day your books were delivered, unless you are taking advantage of the 15 day grace period. See how easy the return process is in the "Return Your Books" section below.

Summer (55 days)
This rental period is used mainly by students taking summer courses or those taking intense (condensed) courses year round. The rental period begins on the day your books are delivered and ends 55 (fifty-five) days thereafter. All textbooks rented under this rental period must be postmarked by the 55th day from the day your books were delivered, unless you are taking advantage of the 15 day grace period. See how easy the return process is in the "Return Your Books" section below.

Extensions
We offer 15 and 30 day extensions if you find yourself needing to keep your book just a bit longer. Extending your rental period is easy. Simply access your account, choose the amount of time to extend, and checkout. Your account will be updated to show the new rental period.

Re-Renting
If you need to retake a class you can re-rent your book for 30% less than the original rental price. This still saves you big time over purchasing it. Simply access your account, select the “Re-Rent” button and continue the checkout process. Your account will be updated to show the new status.

Buying Your Book
If you decide you want to keep your book forever, simply access your account and select the book or books you wish to buy. Select the "Buy Checked" button. This amount is the difference between what you already paid in rental fees and the value of the book. If you decide to purchase the book, simply complete the checkout process. Your account will be updated to show the new status.

Returning Your Books
We've tried to make returning your books as easy as getting them. Simply access your customer account, put a check mark next to the book or books you are ready to return, and click "Return Checked".  This will generate a prepaid and preaddressed shipping label on your computer screen.  Package your books in a single package with care, print off your shipping label, adhere it to the package with high quality tape, and drop the package off at the nearest post office. The shipping is prepaid by CampusBookRentals.com, so there’s no waiting in line. Just drop and go. When we receive your textbooks, your account will be updated to show the books were returned and you'll receive an email stating the completion of your rental cycle.

Books not Returned on Time
We at Campus Book Rentals hope to resolve any situation that might arise prior to it becoming a dispute. We will do our best to make returning your books simple and easy. If books are not returned at the end of the rental period (and after the grace period), as specified in the rental agreement, the renter will be notified via email that their card will be charged for the purchase of their book(s). The renter's credit/debit card will then be charged the difference between the rental price already paid and the value of the textbook and their account will be updated to reflect that the books were purchased.

Ownership
Books rented from Campus Book Rentals are the property of CampusBookRentals.com At no time during the rental period does the renter obtain ownership of the books unless the renter purchases the book according to the terms above.

Damaged, Lost, or Stolen Books and our Insure-a-Book™ Program
Campus Book Rentals is liable and responsible for the condition of rented textbooks only until they are received by the renter at the onset of the rental period. At the time of initial receipt, you, the renter, take full responsibility for the textbook. If textbook is lost, stolen, or damaged beyond reasonable use (cover ripped off, pages torn out, excessive water damage, etc.) renter will be responsible to either replace textbook with textbook in similar condition, or be charged the full value for the textbook. Campus Book Rentals understands normal wear and tear on a textbook. Even highlighting is permitted. Excessive damage is any damage that would prevent another student from being able to reasonably use the book and obtain full learning value from it. Our unique Insure-a-Book™ program affords you peace of mind while renting your books. Insured books are covered against theft, loss, or damage. See Insure-a-Book below.

Insure-a-Book™
Our Insure-a-Book program offers you peace of mind at an incredible value. If you select the insurance option, should your book become lost, stolen, or damaged beyond reasonable use, we will promptly send you a replacement copy if you still require the use of your book, or waive the purchase fee. When you insure your books, you can worry about your studies, not your books. See our Example and Terms and Conditions below.

Example A book that rents for $55 has a value of approximately $137. If this book was not insured and needed to be replaced, the student would be charged an additional $82. With insurance however, the student would pay only a deductible of $13.75 (deductible is equal to 25% of the rental price) saving the student $68.25.

Terms and Conditions
Insurance is not required. Books can only be insured at the time of initial rental. Insurance prices vary based on the book. Books not insured will be subject to CampusBookRentals.com’s terms for replacing lost, stolen, or damaged textbooks according to the Rental Agreement. Policy period for the covered books is for the term of the rental and grace period only. Policy will not transfer to any other book, including replacement book, unless insurance it taken out on the replacement book at time of replacement. A deductible in the amount of 25% of the rental price must be paid via credit card at time of claim. Insurance only covers rented textbooks against loss, theft, or damage which deems the book unusable and invaluable to CampusBookRentals.com. Insurance fraud is strictly punished by law. CampusBookRentals.com reserves the right to decline insurance to customers if instances of fraud or misuse are detected. Customers are encouraged to keep a copy of their receipt as it displays which books are insured. Any claim must be made via email to insureabook@campusbookrentals.com. Please submit your order number and ISBN of the book you are claiming. Claims are processed within 24-48 hours excluding weekends and major holidays. <
